Stephen Gately was a part of the Irish Boyband, Boyzone. Boyzone took Ireland, Europe, Australia and Asia by storm. They were the most popular group of their time eclipsing the likes of Backstreet Boys and N*SYNC. Other members of the group: Ronan Keating, Mikey Graham, Keith Duffy and Shane Lynch. They parted ways in 1999 to pursue solo projects. Although, relationships were strained over the past few years, the lads recently reunited as friends and speculation abounds as the whether they will reform as a group.
Stephen released a solo album "New Beginning" In 2000. In September of 2003 Stephen completed his run in the lead role in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He performed in the UK tour and the first 8 months of it's London revival. In September, 2004 he took over the role of the Child Catcher in musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang running. Stephen will be appearing in a pantomime, opening December 8, 2005 at the Churchill Theatre in Bromsley, England.
Stephen is married and resides in London with his husband, Andrew.
